What is The Marian Surge?

On October 7, 2022, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, American Life League’s “Bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary” program joined the Marian Blue Wave movement, becoming the Marian Surge.

Our Mission and Goal

The Marian Surge is focused on Bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood by praying the Rosary at every Planned Parenthood facility in the nation and throughout the world as often as possible, under the banner of Our Lady. The Marian Surge joins the huge army of prayer warriors that already make up the Marian Blue Wave, as special forces.

The Surge will take the spiritual fight directly to the gates of hell at Planned Parenthood, where the most horrendous acts of deadly violence against innocent babies are perpetrated day in and day out, year after year. Spiritual battles are won by spiritual warfare.

Our goal is victory over the evil that drives and enables the deadly agenda of Planned Parenthood. When the rosary is earnestly prayed and images of Our Lady appear regularly, demons flee and lives and souls are saved. When the demons flee, Planned Parenthood shuts down.

How to join the Surge

If you are already a member of the Marian Blue Wave, you do not need to rejoin to be a part of the Surge. We invite you to continue your weekly prayers from any place you normally pray, and when and if you can, grab a friend and an image of Our Lady and pray at a Planned Parenthood facility. Every rosary, whether at PP or not, multiplies our effectiveness against evil.

But we do realize that on-site prayer at Planned Parenthood is a critical, indispensable part of this fight that must become the focus of our Surge prayer forces. We have signs that are perfect for the occasion, with Our Lady on the front and the Marian Blue Wave meditations on the back. You can order them here.

Our Roots—from Texas to Virginia

The roots of the Marian Surge go back to 1997 when Bishop John W. Yanta became bishop of the Diocese of Amarillo, Texas. He was immediately faced with the very bad news that Planned Parenthood of Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle was operating 19 facilities in the top 26 counties of Texas—the geographical area of his diocese. He called the situation “a bishop’s worst nightmare,” and tasked Rita Diller with publicly opposing the abortion giant as Respect Life Director for the diocese.

Our Lady was there from the beginning

Realizing that this was going to be an intense spiritual battle, regular rosaries began at Planned Parenthood facilities throughout the diocese, along with educational campaigns about the true nature of PP. Because Diller had experienced first-hand the power of prayer—and particularly the rosary–and the power of images of Our Lady at these strongholds of evil, a huge image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was always carried to Planned Parenthood, for protection and for the conversion of hearts and souls to Christ. There was also a focus on praying the rosary outside Planned Parenthood events, sex classes directed toward children, PP fundraisers, and Planned Parenthood board meetings.

STOPP was a vital partner in STOPPing Planned Parenthood

Jim Sedlak at ALL’s Stop Planned Parenthood International, the only pro-life organization in the nation that is 100% focused on getting and keeping Planned Parenthood out of communities and schools, was a partner and ally in the fight against PP in the Texas Panhandle, often coming to speak and encourage those who were praying for an end to abortion and an end to Planned Parenthood’s previously unabated reign in the Texas Panhandle. The campaign resulted in the closure of all but one of the Planned Parenthood facilities in the Texas Panhandle. The lone hold-out, admitting it was in survival mode, finally disassociated from Planned Parenthood and changed its name. The Texas Panhandle was no longer a welcoming place for the abortion giant. PPATP, now non-existent, no longer held any sway in the communities that worked and prayed to see the doors closed.

Bishop Yanta retired due to his age in 2008. Jim Sedlak invited Rita Diller to come onboard at American Life League as National Director of Stop Planned Parenthood. She served in that position for 7 years and has recently returned to American Life League as interim director of STOPP International. She is now available to help you with your fight against Planned Parenthood. If you feel your efforts have stalled, please contact Rita at rdiller@all.org.

Startling statistics!

In 2019, writing for Celebrate Life Magazine, Jim Sedlak pointed to the amazing results of the Amarillo campaign and the Bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary campaign, the predecessors of today’s Marian Blue Wave/Marian Surge. From 1999 to 2008, Planned Parenthood closed a net of 37 clinics across the country, and 19 of them (51 percent) were in the Texas Panhandle!

After the closing of all the Planned Parenthood facilities in [the] Amarillo [area], Diller joined American Life League and became a major part of creating the Mary Campaign. It was a campaign that specifically asked the mother of God to use the graces and powers given to her by the Holy Trinity to bring an end to Planned Parenthood and its child- killing business. The campaign was developed in 2008 and 2009 and encourages people all across the country to take images of Jesus and Mary with them as they pray in front of Planned Parenthood locations. The effect was startling. Planned Parenthood went from 813 clinics at the end of 2008 to 590 clinics at the end of 2018—a total of 223 clinics shut down in 10 years!

Our Lady will deliver the victory

Through the Rosary and her image which inspires conversion and protection, Our Lady brought an end to Planned Parenthood of Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle and in hundreds of other locations. She will deliver the victory all across our nation when we repent and pray the Rosary as often as possible at Planned Parenthood and wherever its leaders may be in the community. Education and intense spiritual battle are at the very heart of stopping Planned Parenthood.
